We are pleased to announce the release of a new and simpler CPD declaration form for the filing of your annual CPD return.
The form, which is available here, allows you to indicate with a tick, whether or not you have complied with the ICAJ CPD requirement or whether you wish to claim a waiver from the CPD requirements.
Please see below for important information relating to the new form and the filing of CPD:
- When does my CPD return become due?
Annual CPD returns are due on January 31 after the related year end. New members are required to file for the 1st calendar year following the year of admission.
- What happens to the information already on my personal profile?
Any information added to your profile as well as your record of ICAJ seminar attendance will continue to be maintained. Importantly, you should use your personal profile to file and retrieve your CPD information as well as monitor your CPD status as the year progresses.
- What does CPD Compliance Indicate?
This means that you are working directly in accounting or auditing and have met the required total of 40 CPD hours annually, of which 21 should be verifiable and 19 non-verifiable, or that you work in accounting or auditing and have met the total of 40 hours annually, of which 10 may be verifiable and 30 non-verifiable.
- What happens if I do not meet the required number of hours, do I still make a return?
CPD is a requirement of your continuing membership, so you are still required to complete and submit a declaration annually, even if you have not met the required number of hours.
- What qualifies for Verifiable and non-Verifiable CPD?
Activities including the writing of technical articles, papers or books; pursuing a post-qualification e.g. a MBA; starting a new job; service as a member of a Board of Directors or a technical committee of a professional association, major companies, charities or non-profit organizations (to the extent that technical material is prepared or reviewed by the member) and making presentations, are valuable sources of CPD. See the appendices of the CPD Guidelines document that is available here, for the list of activities that qualify as verifiable and non-verifiable CPD.
- I’ve filed CPD with another professional association or work for an approved/accredited employer; do I still file a return with ICAJ?
Yes. You are required to declare to the ICAJ whether or not you have met the ICAJ CPD requirements even if you have filed CPD with another professional association or work for an approved/accredited employer.
