Statement from ICAJ on (coronavirus) COVID-19

Thursday March 12, 2020: Following confirmation of the presence of the (coronavirus) COVID-19 in Jamaica, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ) is urging its members, students and stakeholders to take the necessary precautions to prevent infection.

With person to person contact identified as one of the vehicles for transmission of the virus,ICAJ will continue to monitor bulletins from the health ministry and inform members whether meetings and continuing professional development courses will be conducted face-to-face or online.

As the global spread of the virus continues, the best response is to be prepared. Follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Wellness and seek medical attention early, should this become necessary.

Members who head companies or have their own practice are further encouraged to develop and implement a response plan and keep the lines of communication open with staff, clients and external parties. We value our staff, members and students and ask that everyone remain alert and responsible in this period of heightened awareness.
