Mr. Edgar C. Jones
The word, "The secret of success is constancy of purpose," (Benjamin Disraeli (1804-81) Prime Minister of the United Kingdom), characterizes the life of Edgar Jones, a founding member of the ICAJ.
His early working years were spent in the public service at the Government Printing Office and the Income Tax Department, after graduating from Kingston Technical High School. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1965 and served for many years as a member of the ICAJ's Admissions Committee. He also served as a member of the Investigations Committee.
His outstanding contribution to nation development was recognized through his service as a director on the boards of a number of organizations. These include the:
- Public Passenger Transport Board
- Air Transport Licensing Board
- Jamaica Racing Commission
- Prices Commission
- Jamaica Commodity Trading Co/State Trading Corporation
He served as Audit Committee Chairman on some of these Boards.
He continues to serve as a member of the Parliamentary Integrity Commission, on which he has served since 2001.
He is Managing Partner of Capleton, Jones & Co., Chartered Accountants, a firm he established 41 years ago with the late J. Anthony Capleton. Over the years, he has also been engaged in manufacturing and real estate development.
