Mr Dennis Chung


Mr Dennis Chung was elected President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ) on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at its Forty-Eighth Annual General Meeting, held at the ICAJ Secretariat in Kingston. He succeeds Miss Vintoria Bernard who served over the past two years.

Dennis Chung has served as a Council member of ICAJ since 2005 and was elected Vice President in 2011. He has also served as Chairman of ICAJ’s Membership, Continuing Professional Development and Property Development Committees.

Mr Chung was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica on May 1, 2013. A former director at the Bank of Jamaica, Statistical Institute of Jamaica, Jamaica Urban Transit Company, the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission, and the Kiwanis Club of North St. Andrew, he was also a member of the National Services Task Force, as a part of Jamaica’s Vision 2030 Plan.

He is the author of “Charting Jamaica’s Economic and Social Development – A much needed paradigm shift”, which examines Jamaica’s macroeconomic numbers since the 1960s and suggests a way forward for economic and social development.

Mr Chung completed his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in accounting, in 1987 and 1989 respectively, from the University of the West Indies, and the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examinations in 1990 in California, USA. An alumnus of the Jamaica College, he has been a member of the Jamaica College Board and Foundation, since 2005.
