Miss Prunella Vassell

prunella-vassellMiss Prunella Vassell, FCA, FCCA, was elected as President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ) in July 2007, a position which she held until July 2009. Previously she served as Vice President - June 2005 to July 2007.

Presently chairing the Public Relations & Publications Committee, Miss Vassell was first elected to the Council of the ICAJ in July 1997 and served as Treasurer and Chair of the Institute’s Finance Committee for the six years prior to her election as Vice-President. She was also Chairperson of the Students’ Affairs Committee from 1997 to 1999 and the Taxation Committee from 1999 to 2002.

From 2002 to 2007 she served as the Chairperson of ICAJ’s Public Relations/Publications Committee for the first time. She is a member of the Institute’s Membership, Future of the Profession, and Taxation Committees.

In 2003, she was awarded the inaugural ICAJ President’s Award for most outstanding chairperson in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the development of the Institute in her capacity as Treasurer and Chairperson of the PR & Publications Committee.

An Associate in charge of Audit Services and Tax Consultancy at Paul Goldson & Company, she has extensive experience in the areas of Income Tax and General Consumption Tax (GCT).

Prior to joining Paul Goldson & Company, she held different positions in Government and quasi-government institutions, as well as undertaking various part-time assignments as Lecturer in Financial & Management Accounting and Taxation at the University of Technology, the Institute of Management and Production and the Students’ Accountancy Training Consortium.

Miss Vassell has chaired the Management Committee of the Students’ Accountancy Training Consortium, as well as its Technical Committee. She is also a member of the Business Board of Studies the University Council of Jamaica and the Supervisory Board of the School of Business of the University of Technology (UTECH).  

Her interests include baking, cake decorating, sewing, reading and walking.
